Sculpture Garden

Epic Travel → North America → The Midwest → Minnesota → Sculpture Garden

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Time Required: 15 minutes – 2 hours (depending on how much you like modern art)

Red Tape/Notes: Entry is free to visit the Sculpture Garden (although if you’re driving, you may struggle to find free parking) and the garden is open daily from 6am – midnight. The park is associated with the Walker Art Center, which includes much more than the Sculpture Garden, but you’ll have to pay to visit the gallery. For loads of great information on the sculptures in the park, visit the Walker’s website (you can also find details on the Walker Art Center gallery here if you’re interested in visiting).

What’s Nearby?: Mill Ruins ParkSt. Anthony FallsMinnehaha Park

Originally opened in 1988, the park has recently been renovated and remains an iconic emblem of Minneapolis, with the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry, the well known “Blue Chicken” (whose actual name is the Hahn/Cock), and numerous other great sculptures, many of which are interactive (i.e. you can walk through them, swing on them, or take a seat). At the very least, even if you hate modern art, you should stop and take a ridiculous picture with the Spoonbridge and Cherry.
