We were staying at the Punakaiki Beach Camp, which boasts a short and easy trail down to the river and the beach. The Pororari River Track heads upstream nearby, but we just came down to watch the sunset reflections in the water. Turned out to be a good choice. Highly recommended if you’re staying here and are looking for a spot to watch the sunset (or maybe you’re killing time waiting for the glowworms to wake up at Punakaiki Cavern).
