Originally famous as the only waterfall in North Carolina you could drive behind, the road no longer goes under the falls (you can imagine this was problematic during winter, what with icy conditions and such), but you can still walk behind the falls. The flow is normally not very heavy (as is the case with most waterfalls with “bridal veil” or “veil” in their names…it’s basically just a euphemism for misty low-flow waterfall); the pictures below show the falls after significant rainfall, so you normally wouldn’t even get wet walking behind the falls. Worth a stop or a drive by if you’re in the area since it takes no effort whatsoever.
