This is a great little hot spring…or “hot pot” as they’re called here. Iceland is home to loads of hot pots, and some are more obscure than others. Finding the more obscure ones can be remarkably enjoyable – sort of like a treasure hunt. We had our gps (not the car version, but the actual hand held one we use for canyoneering) and the gps coordinates for this hot pot, so I suppose it was sort of cheating, but you still have to find a random dirt road that will take you in the right direction. Anyway, this was a great little spot once we arrived, with very pleasantly warm water (44° C) and a pretty, remote setting. We were too cold to think about getting all the way in, but I now kind of feel like we were being pansies. Next time.
