If you’re driving along the south coast, you’ll probably notice these – they’re a pair of large volcanic lava pinnacles at the edge of a basalt cliff (well, you can’t see the basalt cliffs from the road, but you’ll see the pinnacles). One of the lava pinnacles looks like a viking ship…or a sitting mythical bird of sorts (at least, it does from the back). The hike out to the cliffs is quite pretty, and during the appropriate season (April to September) you can find puffins here. Random fun fact, the area around the cliffs has never been used because it was thought to be inhabited by elves. In the US they would have set up a theme park.
