Apparently this is a prime bird watching spot during the summer, with literally thousands of birds (including puffins) with little fear of humans. It wasn’t summer when we were here, but we had time to kill and just followed the sign indicating there was something to see out the dirt road – we had no idea where we were going. We ended up at the impressive vertical sea cliffs of Krýsuvíkurberg, which extend for 15 kilometers and have trails running everywhere along the cliff line. Even in the off-season the place is impressive, giving you a feeling of being at the edge of the world, the way the ocean hammers against the sheer cliffs and the wind howls across the plateau. I imagine it would be amazing covered in birds. Unless you hate birds, in which case, you should avoid this place during the summer at all costs.
