Red Tape/Notes: Somewhat off the beaten track, but you should be able to get here without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. You’ll want to visit between June and October – outside of those times, the trip is either not possible or not worth the effort.

Gjain is a beautiful little valley – sort of an oasis in the middle of a barren lava field. It has lovely streams flowing through it, a couple of nice waterfalls, and cool formations of lava rock. There are some trails, but there may be some creative stream hopping required to get around in the valley, so be prepared for the potential of wet feet. This place is adorable and off the beaten track, and I loved every minute of our time here.
