The icebergs from Jökulsárlón wash out to shore via a narrow channel, breaking up and melting as they go along. Luckily for us, some of the remnants wash up on a beautiful black sand beach just outside of the channel (they wash up on both sides of the channel, though they seem to be more prolific on the west side), resting on the black sand like huge diamonds, sparkling in the sunlight. It’s a truly beautiful effect, and really fun to photograph if you’re into photography.
