Technically called the “Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden”, the memorial is the centerpiece of the botanical garden, which places an emphasis on plants endemic to the island and to California, including many rare and endangered species. In a similar vein, the memorial was constructed using as many local materials as possible, including locally quarried blue flagstone and tiles from the Catalina Pottery Plant (which closed in 1937). It’s worth climbing up to the memorial for the lovely view it offers, and you can spend several pleasant hours strolling trails through the garden’s nearly 38 acres. The garden is often visited because it provides access to the popular Garden to Sky Trail.
