This is a great spot for paragliding and hang gliding, but it’s also just a nice spot to go for a picnic or to enjoy the scenery. The Gliderport is situated on a cliff overlooking a lovely stretch of coast (called Black’s Beach) and provides views across the ocean and south to La Jolla. The colorful parachutes add pleasant spots of color to the blue on blue background of sea and sky, and the persistent breezes are pleasantly refreshing. Trails lead along the cliffs to the south of the Gliderport, and you can walk along these trails to find a spot to relax or picnic while enjoying the views away from the crowds at the Gliderport proper. You can access Black’s Beach from a trail at the edge of the northern-most parking area (this is also the parking area for access to Sandtrap Canyon).
