Epic Travel → Europe → Iceland → Southern Iceland

This is the region in Iceland that most tourists will visit (if they manage to escape Reykjavik and the Golden Circle, that is), and they are amply rewarded for their efforts by various amazing destinations that can be easily reached via the Ring Road (Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Reynisfjara, and Jokulsarlon to name a few). But if you spend a bit more time here, and are willing to put in a little more effort, you can explore any number of places that are better and see far fewer tourists, like many of the places listed below. At the very least, spend a couple of nights out here and drive yourself around so you have the chance to stop for an amazing rainbow or a stellar northern lights display – you never know what you’re going to see out here.
