Red Tape/Notes: It’s typically easy to sign up for reef dive trips through your hotel or resort when you arrive; there are so many dive companies that you shouldn’t have trouble finding space (this isn’t the case with specialty dives like The Blue Hole and Whale Sharks – those you should probably reserve prior to your arrival).

There’s so much great diving off the coast of Belize, it’s worth going out for multiple days, particularly if the visibility is good. With sights like the North and South Canyon of the Silk Caves, Half Moon Caye, and The Aquarium you can get your fill of rays, eels, angelfish, nurse sharks, colorful coral, and all the other things we love to see during reef dives. Typically if you’re out all day, the dive boat will anchor in a shallow reef area that’s perfect for snorkeling during down time between dives. We’ve done our share of “specialty” dives, but I think diving a good reef will always be my favorite.
