Epic Travel → North America → Mountain States → Arizona → Grand Canyon North Rim → Bright Angel Point Trail
Location: Grand Canyon National Park, North Rim, Arizona
Distance: 0.5 miles (round trip)
Elevation Gain: 100 feet
Time Required: 15-20 minutes
Red Tape/Notes: A pass is required for each vehicle entering the park; it costs $35 and is good for 7 days. The North Rim is closed in winter (due to snow – it’s at over 8000 feet), and lodging, restaurants, and the visitor center are only open May 15 – October 15 (visitor center hours are 8am – 6pm). Visit the nps website for more info.
What’s Nearby?: Transept Trail, Point Imperial
This short “trail” (it’s more of a paved walkway really) may be the most frequented trail at the North Rim. It’s short and easy to find, with access from both the visitor center and the lodge. You’ll have nice views on the way out, since the trail runs along the crest of a peninsular ridge, culminating in a beautiful view of the Grand Canyon at the end. Definitely a nice intro to the area, and it can easily be combined with the Transept Trail by taking the left fork on the way back, towards the lodge, where you’ll see signs directing you to the Transept Trail.
