Canyon Overlook Trail
Epic Travel → North America → Mountain States → Utah → Zion National Park → Canyon Overlook Trail
Location: Upper East Canyon, Zion National Park, Utah
Distance: 1 mile (roundtrip)
Elevation Gain: very little
Time Required: 30 minutes
Red Tape/Notes: The park is open 24 hours a day; park passes are $30 per vehicle and are valid for 7 days. The Upper East Canyon area is not serviced by the shuttle so you’ll need a car to get to the trailhead.
What’s Nearby?: Keyhole Canyon, Pine Creek Canyon, Spry Canyon
This is a pleasant enough trail if you’re in the area and are looking for some nice views; it’s an especially good choice if it’s your first time in Zion because the drive to the trailhead is very pretty (through the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel) and the trail itself is a nice introduction to the great cliffs, rock formations, and sweeping vistas of the park. In a short half a mile, the trail passes through some rock alcoves and meanders along cliff edges, and at the end of the trail, it opens out with lovely views of the canyon.
