Kleifarvatn is one of the largest lakes in Southern Iceland and is situated in an interesting volcanic setting, with lava rock formations at its edges. Also rather interesting, the lake has been shrinking since the year 2000, presumably due to fissures opened below the lake due to two major earthquakes. To date, the lake has lost 20% of its surface area. You should probably go ahead and visit it before its gone entirely!
