If you happen to be driving on SH6 across the island, or on SH65, it’s worth the brief detour to see Maruia Falls and stretch your legs. The walk down from the parking area takes all of about five minutes, and you can wander out a bit further for better views if you can spare a couple of additional minutes. This is one of the few wide (as opposed to tall) waterfalls we visited, and it has a different feel, being in wide open river country instead of the usual rainforest.
