Less visited than nearby Banff National Park, the only reason I can think of for this is that Jasper is a longer drive from Calgary. It is equally as beautiful, with epics hikes, stunning mountain views, turquoise blue waters, glaciers, canyons, hot springs, and breathtaking lakes. It lacks much of the historic infrastructure of Banff National Park – you won’t find hotels like the Banff Springs or Chateau Lake Louise here, and you won’t find a tea house in the mountains, but you will find well-marked, well-maintained trails and plenty of restaurant and lodging options in Jasper town. Plus, the drive to Jasper from Banff on the Icefields Parkway is packed full of stops, leaving you no excuse not to make the drive.
