Despite having a reputation for hosting spring break groups and cruise ships, the Keys have some great spots for the Intrepid tourists (especially if you go during hurricane season!). With a rich history including early colonization and feuding between the Spaniards and Great Britain, proximity to Nassau meaning pirates sailed through regularly, and a penchant for sinking ships (thereby creating a treasure hunter’s playground), Key West has a character all its own.
