Founded in 1870 when Mormon settlers moved into the area, Kanab has carved out a niche as a delightful small town with a notable film history; it’s sometimes called “Little Hollywood” due to the large number of Westerns that have been filmed here.  Like most places in the area, there are a number of beautiful places to visit in the immediate vicinity, and since it’s conveniently located near several national and state parks (including Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon north rim) in addition to Lake Powell, Kanab is a great base for exploring the rest of Northern Arizona and Southern Utah.
