California is home to an epic array of things to see and do – from beautiful beaches and coastlines to rugged mountains and parched deserts and everything in between. Yes, there are a lot of people – but don’t worry, you’ll be able to ditch most of them as soon as you venture into intrepid territory (those poor people have no idea what they’re missing). We’ve tried to provide our best advice on how to outsmart the crowds in areas that are prone to an excess of visitors, but even if you can’t avoid people entirely, most of these places are so breathtaking that you won’t even care.
